David Hillman – Director he/him
Since 2005, David has led work for the Financial Transactions Tax and in 2010 helped create the Robin Hood Tax campaign, a network of more than 100 UK charities, trade unions, faith organisations and green groups.
David learnt campaigning leading grassroots efforts in the UK to end Apartheid, before going on to work on the campaigns to ban landmines and drop the debt. He has considerable experience of bringing together the efforts of numerous non-governmental actors to achieve change.
Louise Hutchins – Campaigns Director she/her
Louise is a climate and social justice campaigns strategist. At Stamp Out Poverty, she co-convenes the UK Make Polluters Pay Coalition, champions the Fossil Fuel Treaty, and works to unlock large-scale climate finance for the Global South.
Previously, as an advisor to Latin American ministers, Louise was involved in fighting for 1.5°C at the Paris climate talks and later on developing a UN treaty to end tax havens. She has worked on the transition to greener cities with WRI, C40, and New Climate Economy. At Greenpeace, Louise played a leading role in successful campaigns that ended the era of coal and blocked fracking in the UK. She has been a regular university guest lecturer and media commentator.
Elinor Scanlon – Campaigns & Communications Officer she/her
Six years ago Elinor commenced her campaigning career; she worked tirelessly to improve the chances of survival for individuals with blood cancers and blood disorders. Since October 2022 she has applied her Masters in International Relations, her experience in environmental activism, and her campaigning and communications skills to fight for climate justice. Elinor is responsible for the ongoing coordination of the Make Polluters Pay coalition and delivery of its aims and objectives. The coalition works on delivering climate justice by campaigning for loss and damage finance to be paid by polluters, needs-based, new and additional to existing climate finance and overseas development aid and in the form of grants, not loans.
Ken Penton – UK Advisor to the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative he/him
Ken is a highly experienced, creative and successful UK political campaigner, with a successful track record of changing UK public policy for the better, with particular interest in and commitment to social and environmental justice issues.
He has been a Senior Political Adviser to the UK Labour Party twice during his career, advising on Employment, Environment, and Economics, respectively. He is a former head of media and politics for the UK steelworkers’ union Community. He has been a on several occasions been a political consultant. During his career he has been a trusted political and media relations adviser for senior figures from the world of politics, business, and civil society.
