{"id":4803,"date":"2018-10-31T14:35:51","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T14:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.stampoutpoverty.org\/live2019\/?page_id=4803"},"modified":"2019-06-28T16:06:10","modified_gmt":"2019-06-28T15:06:10","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/stampoutpoverty.org\/live2019\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"Our History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"intro\">Stamp Out Poverty was founded in 2006 to campaign for new and additional sources of finance to fight poverty and climate change at home and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>We helped create the political space for initiatives such <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unitaid.eu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">UNITAID<\/a>, principally funded by a small levy on airline tickets, which has generated more than $3billion for HIV\/AIDS, TB and malaria treatments in the Global South.<\/p>\n<p>Stamp Out Poverty is one of the founding members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/robinhoodtax.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Robin Hood Tax<\/a> campaign, calling for a small tax on the transactions of financial firms to raise billions for public services and global development.
