WHAT WE DO
Building momentum for a planned transition away from fossil fuels
Many governments have committed to transitioning away from fossil fuels, but turning that commitment into reality will require unprecedented international cooperation, political leadership and public support.
Stamp Out Poverty works with governments, civil society organisations, campaigners and thought leaders to advance solutions that can accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and ensure the costs of climate change are borne by those most responsible for causing it.
We convened the subnational chapter of the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, Colombia, helping to bring together cities, states and regions from around the world to shape this emerging international process and demonstrate the vital role of subnational leadership in delivering a just transition.
Building on this work, we continue to engage strategic actors, strengthen political support and help shape international agendas in the lead-up to key moments, including COP negotiations, the second Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels conference hosted by Ireland and Tuvalu, and other global decision-making forums.

The roadmap to phase out fossil fuels announced at COP30 in Brazil marks a decisive shift in global climate politics – a coalition of the willing, alongside the UN process to break the deadlock.
BUILDING SUPPORT
Fossil Fuel Treaty initiative
We have been a key UK partner of the Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative for a binding agreement to end the fossil fuel era and for a just transition. We have supported the diplomatic effort – engaging with the UK government, and mobilised public support – securing endorsements from across the trade union movement and from city mayors.
